Total transparency, as always, from D Gibbs Carpentry
One of the biggest causes of renovation stress is uncertainty.
Not knowing when trades will arrive.
Not knowing how long you’ll be without a kitchen.
Not knowing what happens next.
A clear timeline changes everything.
Here’s what a well-managed kitchen renovation typically looks like. Note: ours are ONLY run like this!
Stage 1 – Design and planning (2–4 weeks)
This is where the foundations are set.
- home survey
- layout options
- cabinet and finish choices
- appliance selection
- final design sign-off
Good planning here prevents costly changes later. Want to see how easy and stress free getting a kitchen installation quote can be? Click here
Stage 2 – Ordering and manufacturing (4–6+ weeks)
Cabinets and frontals are made to order.
Lead times vary, so ordering early is key.
Nothing should be ripped out until everything is confirmed.
Stage 3 – Rip-out and preparation (3–5 days)
Old kitchen removed.
First fix:
- plumbing
- electrics
- plastering
- making good walls/floors
This stage can look messy, but it’s short-lived. Your home is always left clean and tidy at the end of each day, and all water and electrical systems working.
Stage 4 – Installation (1–2 weeks)
The exciting part.
- cabinets fitted
- worktops templated and installed
- appliances connected
- finishing details completed
This is where precision really matters.
Stage 5 – Finishing and snagging (2–3 days)
Final touches:
- adjustments
- sealing
- decorating
- thorough checks
Nothing rushed. Everything co-ordinated just right.
Why rushing causes problems
Trying to squeeze timelines usually leads to:
- damaged finishes
- misaligned units
- poor drying times
- avoidable mistakes
A quality kitchen is worth doing properly.
